Foaming Falls on Fall Creek / Cornell Natural Areas

The Foaming Falls on Fall Creek is a 15ft cascading fall, 110 stone steps below the suspension bridge, and a great place to see the stone that is used in many of Cornell University's buildings. Open year round dawn to dusk, there is no entry fee. Dogs allowed on leash. Swimming is prohibited.

Fun Facts

Though pedestrians can see Foaming Falls from the suspension bridge 140ft up, the view is vastly superior from creek level. Sheer cliffs across the gorge and downstream contain layers of llenroc, a local bluestone used in many campus buildings. Spell it backwards to get the joke.

Trail Info

Find the trailhead on the south end of the suspension bridge, across from the Johnson Art Museum. Turn right on the orange-blazed Cayuga Trail to find the path down to the falls. 0.2mi. Steep steps. Moderate difficulty.

Open year round, no winter maintenance.
