Downtown Ithaca's Winter Festival 2013 is set to take place November 30th - December 14th all over Downtown with special events including Restaurant Week and a Chowder Cook-off. Winter Festval boasts some of the most magnificent events in upstate New York - Ithaca Ice Wars, the Arrival of Santa from Center Ithaca's Rooftop, the Runway Holiday Fashion Show, The Nutcracker at the State Theater, and much much more. Ithaca Ice Wars | Downtown Ithaca Alliance
Ithaca’s Ice Wars Ice Carving Competition is a National Ice Carving Association sanctioned event and will take place from December 13th-14th. Twelve acclaimed ice carvers will compete in three competitions to win the prize money. New this year is the Apres Ski Party outside on the Commons! This is the opportunity to watch this great carving event while celebrating the winter season in all your winter attire. Participants will be able to sit in Ice lounges and purchase a beer and wine from the outdoor bar during this event. The entire family is welcome but you must be 21 or older to purchase an alcoholic beverage.

Winter Fine Art Market at the Holiday Inn | Community Arts Partnership
The annual Winter Fine Art Market is a juried show and sale of about 25 local fine artists, to include painters, sculptors, fiber art, ceramists, print makers, collage artists and wood workers. International Rutabaga Curling Championship | Visit Website!
The 2013 Rutabaga Curl, the 16th annual, will be held at the Ithaca Farmers’ Market on Saturday, December 21st, 2013. The registration table will open at 10:30 and will close at 11:45. Games will open with the 4th annual Turnip Toss for younger contestants. The Curl itself follows immediately after this event. Bring your rutabagas!!

Now through January 25, 2014: The History Center in Tompkins County presents ARTISTRY AND PIETY: Tiffany Windows and Glass Making in Tompkins County and The Finger Lakes - A stunning feast for the eyes, this exhibition explores the once-prevalent glass-making industry in Tompkins County by featuring 12 large-format images of stained glass created by Tiffany and LaFarge studios, as well as glass artifacts of local origin from our collection. State of the Art Gallery's December showcase "Second Annual Small Works Show: runs 12/4 - 12/29/2013, and is an exciting and varied show featuring such media as oil pastel, oil on canvas, oil on wood, acrylic on veneer, watercolor, pen and ink, metal prints, linoleum prints, etching, oil and sterling silver leaf, wax and gypsum sculpture and more. Frank Robinson, former Director of the Johnson Museum at Cornell University, will judge more than 80 works of art by 35 artists and award up to $600 in prizes. A reception for the artists will be held Friday, December 6 from 5pm-8pm with an awards ceremony at 6:30pm. SOAG is located at 120 W. State Street in Ithaca. Featured Exhibition @ Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University - Leo Villareal: Cosmos
An homage to the late Cornell astronomy professor Carl Sagan, Cosmos is the most recent site-specific installation by New York-based artist Leo Villareal (born 1967), a pioneer in the use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and computer-driven imagery.
