About: CJS Vineyards & Aurelius Winery is a producer of fine Finger Lakes wines. As a small producer, they make and release limited case lots of dry, semidry and semisweet wines. The wines are only available in our tasting room and select local restaurants.
Description: The vineyards were established in 1995, with a small planting of Riesling and Cayuga White grapes on the Fosterville Road site. In 1998 they added their first Chambourcin vines. Over the next several years more Riesling, Chambourcin and Pinot Noir were planted. In 2003 and 2004 they planted Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Riesling on a site on the southwest side of Owasco Lake. This gave a total of three acres of vineyards. The small vineyards allow the winemakers to carefully tend the vines and harvest by hand, producing high-quality wine grapes.
Ground was broken for the new Aurelius Winery building and tasting room on Fosterville Road in the summer of 2002 and opened our doors in May of 2003. Its tasting room offers a cool and relaxing atmosphere for you to enjoy our fine Finger Lakes wines. You’ll find personal and friendly hosts and you can meet the winemaker just about every weekend. Tours of the winery and vineyard are always available. The owners thoroughly enjoy sharing wine stories with many of the home winemaking customers, and provide information for those interested in growing grapes or making wine.
