Explore Ithaca’s Wineries

Like cider production, the Finger Lakes are quickly becoming one of the country’s leading wine regions. With 25 different wineries on Cayuga Lake alone, there’s plenty to liven up your palate.

For the perfect wine-filled day, start with a morning visit to Taughannock Falls.  After soaking in Ithaca’s natural beauty, wind down with a visit to Six Mile Creek Vineyard, a beloved spot tucked into the hills just outside of downtown Ithaca. Then make your way up the lake to Buttonwood Grove Winery, where you can sip award-winning Riesling while exploring the scenic grounds—think rolling vineyards, quiet ponds, and even a small waterfall.

Other Ithaca-area wineries to check out:

  • Ports of New York: Located in downtown Ithaca, french-owned using Finger Lakes grapes
  • Lucas Vineyards: The oldest winery on Cayuga Lake, known for its “Tug Boat wines” and friendly tasting sessions.
  • Hosmer Winery: Sustainable practices and crisp whites on a working farm vineyard.
  • Sheldrake Point Winery: A lakefront spot with a strong lineup of dry and semi-dry wines.
  • Treleaven Wines: Specializing in Chardonnays and sweet Rieslings, they host live music on weekends and also have rotating craft beers on tap.
