Just outside of Ithaca exists the village of Trumansburg, or T-burg as locals call it. Home to one of the Finger Lake Region’s most impressive waterfalls, Taughannock Falls, there are even more attractions to enjoy in this small community. The town itself boasts cozy restaurants, eclectic shops, and even a chocolate factory.

Outdoor Recreation in Trumansburg

Hiking, swimming, and fishing in the summer. Sledding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in the winter. No matter the season you choose to visit Taughannock Falls State Park, you will always find something fun to do outdoors. This state park lies along the Western shore of Cayuga Lake and presents visitors with some spectacular views of the lake and natural areas. Visitors to the Ithaca area interested in camping can choose between tent and trailer sites or cabins in the park. Some sites are even pet-friendly so you don’t have to leave your favorite four-legged friend at home. For convenience, there are showers, grills, picnic tables, and dumping stations at the park.

Annual Festival

Peace, love and music is the atmosphere you can expect to experience at the annual Grassroots Festival, held right here in T-burg every July. With more than 75 bands and performers, this weekend music festival is four days of fun and happiness. Camp on site or stay at any of the surrounding lodging options. Participate in group activities such as morning yoga sessions, drum circles, dance workshops, and the Happiness Parade on Sunday afternoon. If visiting Ithaca in the summer, consider purchasing tickets to this unique event.
