Groton

Enjoy small town life in a big way

Nestled in a valley just 12 miles Northeast of Downtown Ithaca, you’ll find the quaint little town of Groton, NY. Once the home of the Corona Typewriter, used by literary greats like Ernest Hemingway, Groton is an authentic American small town.

Local History

Take a walk down Main Street and immerse yourself in the historic charm of the buildings. For history buffs, visit the Groton Historical Society, to learn all about the town’s past, and view the society’s collection of typewriters, like the one Hemingway used, built right there in town so many decades ago. Just down the street, you can browse around Brittany Station, a cozy boutique offering gift items and souvenirs.

The Benn Conger Inn presents a unique experience to stay in the village in the former home of its namesake, Benn Conger, a state senator during the early 20th century. It’s also a beautiful location to host gatherings such as weddings or corporate retreats. Dine under the stars in the Conservatory dining room year-round. Staying in either the Main House or the Victorian-style cottage next door will surely enhance your experience of the area.
