Farm to Fork Experiences

Ithaca can be whatever you want it to be, a relaxing oasis in the rolling hillside, or a colorful and adventurous city to explore. From u-pick and family friendly experiences, to live music and spectacular culinary experiences, Ithaca has the vibe you’re looking for. Spring time is a perfect time to refreshing yourself: expand your taste buds, pick your own food, or wake up in a farm cottage all your own. With more restaurants per capita than NYC, numerous wineries/cideries/breweries, artisan cheese makers, local butcher shops, and an underlying foodie culture, Ithaca is ideal for those who want a new taste of life.

Forage & Feast @ Shelterbelt Farm
Join ethnobiologist and functional herbalist Hayden Stebbins for a walk through forest and field at Shelterbelt Farm and Food Forest Farm Nursery to see the world in a way you’ve never seen before. During this walk, Hayden will teach you about common introduced and native plants, how to identify them by family, and their edible, medicinal, or poisonous properties. Together we will harvest edible plants as we go and bring them to the kitchen where we will all prepare a multicourse vegan meal combining the harvest with other local foods. This will include a wild plant pesto, hummus, a couple teas and an extra dish depending on what plants and mushrooms are found.

Farm to Garden Days @ GreenTree Garden Supply
Saturdays, May 18, May 25, and June 1, a variety of farmers and makers will set up stands in our parking lot selling their wares. Stock your gardens with heirloom tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, lettuce and more, as well annual and perennial flowers. New this year, some days will feature local makers selling herbal health care and beauty products, goats to pet and lovely fiber and yarn to buy and a mushroom log inoculation station! Plus let your kids pet the goats, plant some seeds, play in the "dirt" and learn about the science behind their garden.
